Although beautiful, New Zealand flax can quickly become out of control and flax bush removal can be very difficult and expensive to remove if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Tree King has developed a very effective method of pulling flax bushes out in large clumps using a special attachment on our 5 ton excavator. As we are tearing the plants out of the ground rather than digging we are able to limit the amount of dirt that comes with them thus minimise disposal and transport costs while eliminating the need to bring in replacement topsoil. Because we are tearing the plant out of the ground roots and all rather than digging there is less chances for cut root sections to be left behind to regrow.
Once the bushes have been pulled from the ground our large volume tip truck can transport them to a refuge station or the digger can stack them in burn piles on rural sites. This method is by far the quickest, tidiest and most cost effective method of large scale flax bush removal. We can also apply the method to Toi Toi bushes, Tecoma hedging, and Banana palms. We have cleared large areas with literally hundreds of Flax.
This method best suits bulk removal and it is usually not cost effective for just one or two bushes on their own. These can be levered out by hand. The machine used in this method of removal is very heavy and may damage curbs and lawns when moving around so this method may not be suitable in some situations. We recommend this work be done during the summer when the ground is dry. Contact us now for a free quote>

It was a ridiculously hot day and they worked virtually nonstop to get the job completed. It was done exactly as agreed, all timber stacked and manageable and the left tidy.
